Approval of import duties exemption for raw materials and inputs imported for use in electrical and electronics manufacturing industry follow Section 12
(Announcement of Ministry of Finance dated 31 December 2006)

            By the Cabinet approved the restructuring of import duties for electric and electronic industries which affected by the overlap of the import duty structure. Including problems arising from the impact of trade liberalization negotiations under the framework of various countries. To help domestic industry to compete with imported products from overseas by reduce import duties of raw materials and inputs down to 0 percent only with respect to use in  manufacturing electrical appliances and electronics products. It will cover products in the following.
Home appliances group such as washing machine, refrigerator, rice cooker and electric kettle, iron, microwave oven, etc.
Consumer electronics group such as television, radio, DVD player, audio etc.
Parts and components group such as printed circuit boards, compressor, motors, power cable and wiring harness, speaker  etc.
Items which exempted duties, and includes terms and conditions can be checked from the Ministry of Finance Announcement on Tax Reduction and Exemption of customs duty under Section 12 of the Customs Tariff Act 1987, dated 31 December 2006 Section 3 (15) pages 44-54 (Ministry of Finance Announcement). Under this measures benefits will cover both manufacturers of electrical and electronic products announced by the Ministry of Finance and the parts and accessories manufacturers too.
Terms and Conditions
Import duties exemption applicant must be a legal entity and is the production / assembly of electrical and electronic industries or downstream industries.
Raw materials and inputs that are exempted duties need to produce a complete set of production formula within a year from the date imported.
Applicant must apply the production formula for approval from Electrical and Electronics Institute (EEI) .  Each import must follow the procedures (procedures)  of EEI and get approval from EEI (EEI’s Announcement 1/2007).
The applicants must follow Custom Department regulations. (Custom Department’s Announcement 117/2006).
